First Flight – February 24

The first bee flight after winter is an important moment in the apiary, full of observation, joy and hope for the new season.

Although winter is still with us, February brings the first signs of the approaching spring. One of the most important events in the apiary at this time is the bees’ first flight. We would like to share with you what happens here during these special days.

Waiting for the first flight

Winter is a time of rest for our bees, which spend the season in their hives, gathered in a tight cluster around the queen. Although it may be cold outside, the temperature inside the hive remains suitably higher, allowing the bees to survive this difficult period.

However, winter is also a time of uncertainty – beekeepers eagerly await the first warm days, which allow them to assess the condition of the bee colonies after winter.

The importance of the first flight

The first flight is extremely important for the health of the bees. It is the moment when beekeepers can assess the condition of the bee colonies. We observe how the bees fly out and return to the hive, as well as how they behave at the entrance.

Any anomaly may be a sign of problems that will need to be addressed. That is why it is so important to watch this first flight carefully.

Joy and hope

The first bee flight in February is also a moment of joy and hope for us as beekeepers. It is a sign that our bees have survived the winter and are ready to begin a new season.

The sight of bees returning to the hive, healthy and full of energy, fills us with optimism and gives us motivation for the work ahead.

Thank you for being with us and following life in our apiary. Every day is a new adventure, and the first flight in February is one of those moments that reminds us how special our work is.

See you in the next post, where we will share more events from our apiary!
